“everything eventually comes full circle & then something new begins again”
psalm 138:8
“the lord will perfect that which concerns me,
thy mercy o lord endures forever.
forsake not the works of thine own hands.”
I was born in Hue, Vietnam in 1969. My birth name was Hung Le Thi.
For a short while, I was under the sweet care of French nuns and nurses at the Kim Long Orphanage. Until one day, Lt. Frank Congiusta came to visit. We met in the summer of 1970. He chose me, I chose him. In a few short months I became Frank and Karen Congiusta’s daughter, Laura Le Thi Congiusta. At fourteen months old, I came to the States and was raised in Brooklyn, New York.
Kim Long Orphanage was shut down after the war. In 1991, Sister Chantal reopened its doors.
Forty six years later, in the fall of 2016, I came in contact with a Vietnam veteran who made frequent visits to Kim Long Orphanage while I was living there. Here is our story.
